Is there a double standard between Wade and Beasley? (Pete W)

Pete W thinks that Wade makes the same mistake as Beasley (not attacking the rim stronger) and suggests that Wade would never be criticized if that were the case:

Pete w says:

“Q: I am the biggest Beasley supporter out there but, this game falls on his shoulders. He needs to attack the freaking basket and finish strong. — Brad.
A: That is exactly what I took from the game,”

this would be fine – if i ever heard this criticism directed at wade as well. but with wade – it is always some excuse.

1. Beasley is not on Wade's level and it is stupid to suggest they need to be held to the same standards based on your assumption that Beasley = Wade.
2. Wade, the 6'4 SG, takes it to the rim way stronger than Beasley, the 6'8 PF. Note how I mentioned their height and position, to insinuate what a joke it is to discuss a 6'4 SG attacking the rim versus a 6'8 PF. In which case, Wade still wins hands down.
3. On the rare games that Wade was hurting the team rather than helping, he has been called out for his actions, although not in a "lynch mob" kind of way because he has already proven himself in the NBA and helped Miami win its first NBA Championship.
4. You guys (Beasley Homers) pump out excuses left-and-right. Don't talk about others making excuses.

Is Spo hatin' on Beasley? (Mike)

Mike here seems to think that Spo is to blame for Beasley and that Haslem needs to be traded.

Mike says:

F*ck you Spo you mother f*cker and f*ck Haslem he’s useless, undrafetd, and undersize putting Haslem in the 3rd quarter just helped Timberwolves win the game we were playing an even game and in few minutes while the grits playing the lead jumped to double digits. Until when this f*cker Haslem going to be taking minutes from a legit NBA player in Beasley let the kid play 35+ minutes a game without having to worry of sitting on the bench everytime makes a mistake. Beasley always have to play under stress from Spo that’s the reason he’s not able to acheive the expectations any mistake Spo sits him for that f*cker Haslem.

Mike
says:

Spo please give Beasley his minutes 35+ MPG, even with mistakes he’s still way better than Haslem and will win the Heat alot more games than Haslem, this is just a myth that Haslem is better deffender, Haslem was always Miami Heat weakness, we didn’t win the championship in 2006 because of Haslem we won it because of the other 4 starters and Zo

I'll just say this: Spo has to think about Dwyane Wade re-signing, too, so you'll have to excuse him for not playing Beasley when sometimes it's clear that Beasley is having a bad game, rather than gambling away two seasons in hopes that Michael Beasley "gets it" and can start contributing to a win rather than a loss.

Wolves 91, Heat 88

In a night where Beasley didn't shoot the ball well, *certain* Beasley Homer Fans were at full force trying to ready to divert all attention to other sources other than Beasley, the Heat's #2 pick in the draft. After having 3 good shooting games in a row, this is the 2nd bad shooting game in a row for Beasley. To Beasley's credit, he did have 9 rebounds / 0 turnovers / 4 steals / 2 blocks. But when a player mainly impacts the game through scoring and does not have a good shooting game while looking for their shot, it really impacts the team as a whole. This is one of the biggest issues I see plaguing the 2nd year Forward.

cruicruise says:

Bring it, Beasley haters!

And you wonder why people hate Beasley. In the case of Beasley, a lot of the times it's the player's fans that make it tough to like a player. Mind you, Cruicruise is one of the Beasley fans that always diverts attention away from Beasley. This time, at least he subconsciously admits that Beasley didn't play well, but fails when he tries to call out "the Beasley Haters." This is the same reason people don't like Kobe Bryant: his fans. Kobe's fans are always talking about how great he is and trying to shove it down everyone's throat, that it annoys the shit out of everyone else. So when Kobe has a bad game and you see comments like this, it just makes you hate the player even more (as unfair as that is to the player).

clarkpetion305 (PS3 GAMERTAG LETBEASLEYPLAY) says:

Beasley played bad today. So did Udonis 2 points 1 rebound ouch. Both of our PF sucked today. I don’t want this blog to be biased towards Haslem or Beasley. They both sucked tonight we all know it. So the I-Wins better not start today.

To be fair, this Beasley fan actually admits that Beasley didn't have a good game. But the point is, like all Beasley Homers, he places the expectations of a #2 pick in the draft, who averaged 25/12/2 coming out of college, upon other players in the Miami HEAT not named Dwyane Wade. Haslem isn't a #2 pick in the draft and wasn't drafted as such to help Wade make the HEAT contenders again. He is a role player, nothing more, nothing less. Apparently, Beasley Homers never got that memo. Of course, there's the cheap, unprovoked shot at me in the end, despite the fact that I agreed with his assessment that UD (and both Forwards) played bad this game.

What right does Arroyo have to glare at anyone? He sucked so bad tonight he should be glaring at himself.

This guy is a Beasley Troll; he doesn't post very often, and when he does, it's always something along the lines like "Fuck Beasley Haters," or posts similar to this where he doesn't talk about Beasley at all, while insulting other players or people on the blog when they constructively discuss how Beasley performed in a game. So for him to make a special guest appearance to divert the blame to other player(s) while not being a man and accepting that his favorite player shot 5-18 in essentially a 1-3pt game that didn't help his team's cause, says a lot about him.

In all fairness, let's look at some people who took a different approach tonight:

this was a step back tonight for Beaz. I know others will argue he did other things well tonight, which he did, he rebounded had steals and blocked shots, but his offense was atrocious, he needed to attack the rim tonight to set up the jump shot, not the other way around.

......

Can’t defend Mike tonight. but thankfully one game doesn’t make a season and the Heat have Saturday to try and make things better.

Adam understands that a player is still learning and improving. We all want Beasley to improve because he plays for our Miami HEAT.

Supercool is a Superstar
says:

Beasley’s performance tonight was flat out unacceptable and I say this being one of his biggest supporters. Beasley needs to attack the rim hard a lot more often to be efficient and consistent in the NBA.
Not much to say, the guy is pretty honest. Don't know the validity to the assessment that his performance is "unacceptable," but I'm pretty sure he meant it in the sense that he knows Beasley is way better than he showed tonight.

Haslem was the captain on a 15 win team.

Game. Set. Match.

So was Wade...*sigh*

Just another classic example of what blind homerism can do to a person.

Thanks to Jimmy for providing another piece of solid info that was not mentioned in response to this comment by Adam:

And forgetting to mention that the coach was the hall of fame Riley.

Mike: a hybrid Homer / Troll; "Daywalker"

For our first post, we'll be discussing a poster on Ira Winderman's Miami HEAT blog that goes by the name of "Mike". Mike is what is known as a Hybrid Homer / Troll, quickly able to change forms depending on what the situation calls for, ie Did Beasley have a bad night? Did Haslem have a good night? How many minutes / touches did Beasley get? Did Beasley sit out two minutes longer than he should have? etc.

Let's start by looking at two posts that show off the awesome power of this "Daywalker" and break down the million ways he is wrong:

Mike says:

Haslem is f*cking up Miami Heat team and he’s the reason the Heat are not improving since last year, how do the Heat expect to improve and their second best player watching from the bench in the fourth quarters.

Link

Let's start with "Haslem is f*cking up Miami Heat team." If you don't know by now, Udonis Haslem is the PF that in 2006 helped the Miami HEAT win it's only championship in team history. This season, he has been a big reason why the Heat are lucky to be at 28-27 rather than 18-37, with Dwyane Wade seriously contemplating leaving Miami. His performance in the 4th quarter, where Beasley has failed to prove himself as a reliable closer, has been big throughout the season and is becoming such a common occurrence that no one is surprised by it anymore. Haslem has also been a mentor to Beasley and there were articles published that showcases the close relationship that him and Beasley have, with quotes from Michael Beasley himself to back up this point. In fact, if you look around other forums and ask NBA personnel and analysts, they will all tell you they are fans of Udonis Haslem and what he brings to the table. To say that "Udonis Haslem is f*cking up the Miami Heat" just goes to show the awesome Troll powers that little Mikey possesses. BTW, the name "Mike" might be a incognito way of showing his affection for Michael Beasley, but that's neither here nor there.

Now, let's look at the Homer side of Mikey:

Mike says:

Beasley had to guard a 7 footer superstar it’s not like if the Heat had to face PF like him everynight and he still played good, the whole league face that problem when playing Dallas.

Beasley is doing great and is our second superstar next to Wade that’s why all the teams wanted him in a trade, i haven’t heard that 1 team wanted Haslem why? i can tell you because he’s worthless. Haslem sucks and he’s the reason Miami Heat not improving this year, i don’t blame Beasley for any game Miami Heat loses until i see him playing at least 10 minutes in the 4th quarter. If the Heat didn’t have Haslem this year we would be plus 10 wins.

Link

"The Heat won't have to face a 7ft (powerforward) superstar every night and Beasley still played good." This is what we talk about when we say "excuse making." Instead of accepting limitations and not making a big deal of it, little Mikey is trying to convince the world (but more importantly, himself) that Beasley's height deficiency is nothing to worry about and that playing defense is not something that should be a concern for an NBA PF. Apparently, little Mikey doesn't understand that PF is one of the more loaded positions in the NBA, with the average height being 6'10-6'11, with those players having better athleticism than Michael Beasley. But as long as he himself is convinced (and attempting to convince the world), that seems to be good enough for Mikey.

"Beasley is doing great" --- STOP. Beasley is not "doing great," because the word "doing" suggests consistency in whatever it was being used. Beasley is far from consistent, earning the nickname "B-Consistent" from NBA analyst and former player Reggie Miller. Clearly this sentence is doomed to fail the minute it was typed.

"and is our second superstar next to Wade" Only based on his age and upside; this argument can be debunked. First of all, 16/6 doesn't make anyone in this league a superstar. Maybe on the Miami HEAT that makes you a superstar, but even then, that is questionable at best. Second, why is little Mikey overlooking Jermaine O'neal, who's play recently has been better and more consistent than Beasley's? Lastly, just because one piece of crap smells better than another, doesn't make it any less of a piece of crap.

"that's why all teams want (Beasley) in a trade" So that's why the Heat currently have Chris Bosh on their roster right now and not Michael Beasley. Because if everyone is knocking on Pat Riley's front door for Beasley, the Heat would have Amare or Bosh by now. Did I mention how the Chicago Bulls had the #1 pick and were in desperate need of a scoring PF, but chose to bypass Beasley for PG-Derrick Rose instead? Or how Team USA twice has denied Michael Beasley the opportunity to even tryout when other "inferior players" (to quote the Beasley Homers) were invited and made the team? Alas, not many GMs are breaking down Pat Riley's door and offering their best pieces in hopes that we'll part with Beasley, and the Heat are forced to sit on Beasley and hope he pans out to be a *consistent* All-Star in this league.

"i haven’t heard that 1 team wanted Haslem why? i can tell you because he’s worthless. Haslem sucks and he’s the reason Miami Heat not improving this year, i don’t blame Beasley for any game Miami Heat loses until i see him playing at least 10 minutes in the 4th quarter. If the Heat didn’t have Haslem this year we would be plus 10 wins." In order to wrap up this blog entry, and because little Mikey comes loaded with redundancy, I decided to go after the remaining chunk of his post and discuss it. First off, when it comes to arguments and debate, this is what we call "Red Herring." For those who don't know, Red Herring is when an irrelevant topic is presented (ex: Spo/Haslem sucks) in order to divert attention from the original issue (ex: Michael Beasley is underachieving). Politicians, for example, are often guilty of red herring. In this case, little Mikey is trying to divert everyone's attention on Michael Beasley by pointing to a player's trade value and reason for their 27-26 record, in this case, Udonis. Mikey has bigger expectations from the undrafted PF, with arguably the most cost effective contract for a non-rookie, than he does from the #2 pick in the draft who was supposed to help Dwyane Wade anchor back this Miami Heat franchise from obscurity, while earning an equal salary as Haslem. He then says that Haslem has no trade value, which is easily debatable in it self. While not a superstar, Haslem does have interest in a niche market for teams that need to compliment their scoring bigs with a PF that can play defense / rebound / hit open shots that the big creates. For example, a team like the Orlando Magic with Stan Van Gundy will surely go after Udonis in the offseason and the Utah Jazz were interested in Udonis Haslem before they re-signed Paul Milsap. Of course, Udonis will not nab you an All-Star or Superstar in a trade, but to understate his value and his impact to a team is a classic case of ignorance.

Sorry for the long blog posts and I promise to keep it short and simple next time, while making more blog entries showcasing the homerism of Beasley fans.

Welcome to the Blog

"Beasley Has Homer Fans" is a blog dedicated to showcasing the world's biggest Homer fans and the player who helps attract them - Michael Beasley of the Miami Heat.

For those of you who don't know, Michael Beasley is a 21 year old Forward from Kansas State University. Playing for a bad team in College with no supporting cast allowed him to showcase his talent on a losing team, where he averaged over 25ppg 12rpg and 2bpg. Nice stats, no? But he never played with another great player or for a chance to win for championship; you can see how he would struggle by being drafted with a team that already had a superstar in Dwyane Wade where serious basketball had to be played. After two years with the Heat, he still a bit inconsistent, having one solid month of basketball followed by 3 good games recently.

A "Homer" is someone who is so enamored and fascinated with something or someone that they become delusional and lose all sight of what is real and factual. Another unique characteristic of a Homer is that they always have an excuse lined up and believe that anything wrong with what they are obsessed with can be explained through an excuse. Needless to say, you're gonna see a lot of examples of what a true "Homer" is as I break down some of the comments made by the Beasley Homers on Ira Winderman's Miami Heat blog.

What's worse than a Homer, you ask? A "Troll." A troll is someone who goes on to a forum/blog where people go to discuss a topic (ex: Miami Heat basketball on Ira's MIAMI HEAT blog) and begins to change the topic in order to ruin everyone else's good time (ex:

Heat fan #1: The Heat did good, without Dwyane Wade they managed to beat the Grizzlies and the Nets, and came close against a loaded Dallas team. Good job by the team to step up. We're getting a chance to see what they're capable of when asked to pick up in Wade's absence.
Heat fan #2: Yeah, Beasley/Haslem/Chalmers/Cook/JO were all huge tonight. I'd like to see how they continue to play once Wade gets back, and see if Wade can also make an adjustment to get those guys in their rhythm.
Beasley Homer: (on Beasley's first good game in a month) Beasley is sooo awesome, this is what happens when you don't have Haslem playing and you play Beasley at PF for 40 minutes. This guy is dominating and outplaying every PF he faces night-in-night-out (Beas is averaging 16ppg/6rpg. Clearly, that can't be true). If it wasn't for the knee brace that Erik Spoelstra makes him wear, he'd be high-flying / running the court / rebounding / dunking on everyone (the irony is that he rarely has shown to be capable of any the aforementioned skills).
Beasley Troll: Beasley would be doing so much better if not for Spo/Haslem/Wade/Chalmers and those guys need to be fired or traded. And fuck you if you don't agree with me.

A troll doesn't know how to express themselves, so they resort to vulgar language in their statements and replies, much like a how a spoiled prepubescent child gets when they want something.

Well, that's the introductary. Stay tuned for more...
